The Role
Marine Specialised Technology Limited are seeking a skilled and motivated Plant & Machinery Service Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and optimisation of plant equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and safety standards are met. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement within the Workshop. Striving for excellence in any work carried out.
Responsibilities
- Support the shop floor employees with the efficient running and maintenance of all plant and machinery including telehandler, trailers, fork lift trucks etc.
- The successful person may be required to help with the output of new build and overhauled and repaired boats, move parts to and from boats, and provide manual labour services as required.
- Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and enhance productivity.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure machinery is operating efficiently and safely.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, performing repairs or coordinating with external service providers as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the plant.
- Provide training and support to staff on equipment operation and maintenance best practices.
Skills & Experience
- Mechanical Fitter qualification
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems is essential
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to plant operations is advantageous
- Proficient in all types of forklift, counterbalance & material handling equipment
- Experience of diagnosing and repairing vehicles and engines
- Ability to organise and plan jobs efficiently
- Knowledgeable, courteous, enthusiastic and always demonstrate integrity
- Outstanding H&S record making this top priority
- Have and maintain a clean manual driving license for driving manual company vehicles
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
