COMMITTED TO THE FUTURE
Compliant and Committed
We take our economic, social and environmental responsibilities seriously. We are committed to becoming carbon net zero ahead of the UK Government 2050 target.
Within individual contracts, we can effectively manage all safety and environmental protection aspects, so MST equipment and services are safe and environmentally sound for their intended purpose throughout their life and compliant with all legislation including our customer’s Safety and Environmental Policy.
Working to integrated project management plans (IPMP) is the norm for us, not the exception, and our design and engineering department work tirelessly to reduce or eliminate hazards to an acceptable level based on the As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) principle.
Our Environment
MST aims to be the principal source of supply for the delivery of commercial and military and professional Inflatable, Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs), and High-Speed Workboats and related products and services to the global defence and security markets.
In doing so, we recognise that our operations will impact the environment. Concern for the environment is a fundamental part of decision making in all aspects of our activities, including capital investment and in allocation of resources. All company sites implement and support appropriate environmental management systems.
We aim to:
- Operate in ways that contribute to lowering energy and fuel usage, reduction of carbon
emissions, reducing and recycling waste - Analyse our activities to ensure any risk of pollution, contamination or other environmental impact is prevented and, if possible, eliminated
- Ensure, as a minimum, compliance with all applicable legal requirements, as well as
meeting or exceeding other requirements appropriate to the company’s activities - Recognise our key stakeholder’s environmental interests, and work with them to ensure their interests are considered in our environmental strategies
- Replacement of hazardous substances with environmentally friendly alternatives
- Monitor and report, internally and externally, the environmental impact of the company’s operations
- Strive for continual environmental improvement through the setting and reviewing of objectives and targets to enhance our environmental performance.

Associations
Supporting Our Armed Forces
MST is a proud signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant and actively recruits veterans, wounded, injured or sick personnel, and reservists, recognising the vast expertise they bring to our company.
We support our staff in a variety of ways, for example by offering flexible start dates, tailored training pathways, and referral to support services to our ex-military employees. We are keen to support our Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) employees in achieving their goals for the cadet movement, including attending cadets’ events or training. Similarly, we offer a flexible approach to leave so for our reservist staff members so they can meet their training and duty obligations, and have appropriate demobilisation leave so they are mentally and physically recuperated before their return to work.
We understand that free time with family is precious, so we have schemes that enable staff who are military spouses/partners to take time out of their workday to spend with their family and make it up at another time and we host an annual paid-for Family Fun Day that we work hard to make as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
Working with Community
MST actively supports the cadet movement as part of our dedication to the Armed Forces Covenant, including investment in equipment and infrastructure. We have donated kit and a rescue platform to Runcorn Sea Cadet Unit – TS Ashanti and host frequent boat sea trials to give local cadets experience aboard military craft.
We welcome enquiries from cadets who are interested in work experience at MST, and we are pleased to guarantee interviews to cadets applying to our Apprenticeship scheme. We are also pleased to support our wider local community by sponsoring youth sports teams and making frequent donations.
Skills & Education
MST recognises the vital importance of nurturing talent in our industry. We offer work experience and attend Further and Higher Education Colleges to help post-16 STEM students understand the role of engineering in the marine industry; our presentation at Wirral Met gave keen future engineers an insight into life at MST.
We run apprenticeship schemes and support our employees’ professional development with training opportunities. As a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, we offer tailored pathways for service leavers young and old. Training for our ex-military employees includes Mental Health First Aid, Senior Leadership Management, Boat Helmsman and more.
MST enrolled me on a CMI Leadership and Management course and I have been able to propel my career from Junior Engineer to Senior Design Engineer and most recently Project Manager.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
We believe that everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect at work. Our equal opportunities policy commits us to fair, unbiased and objective employment practices that create and maintain a work environment that respects differences and promotes equality and harmony. We aim to eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation of all kinds and we expect the highest standards of conduct of everyone, regardless of seniority.
Ethics & Anti-Corruption
MST has a zero tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. We always act with honesty and integrity in all our business activities, and we are committed to ensuring that we engage with our employees, customers, and suppliers in accordance with legislation. We expect everyone to conduct themselves in accordance with the highest ethical standards at all times and we conduct due diligence background checks on any third parties we work with.
We encourage employees to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of malpractice at the earliest possible stage. We ensure that anyone raising a concern about bribery, corruption, or violation of any of our other principles will not suffer any detriment as a result, even if they turn out to be mistaken.
Responsible Supply Chain
Our aim is to provide clients with a quality product at value for money, this means we occasionally procure goods from international suppliers. Our ethical sourcing policy is set out to ensure suppliers meet our equal opportunities, anti-slavery and human trafficking, health and safety, and environmental standards.
We are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards, whilst maintaining and improving our policies and processes, to avoid any human rights violations related to our operations and supply chain. We have a zero-tolerance policy to modern slavery and human trafficking. We believe that employment should be of ‘free choice’ and we oppose any form of child labour or methods that may restrict their natural development. We have systems in place to measure our effectiveness to combat modern slavery and human trafficking.
As part of our continued commitment to ethical and responsible product sourcing we consider potential new suppliers’ ability to adhere to our code as part of the supplier selection process, and review and rate our suppliers for quality.
We take these steps to reduce the potential environmental impact of our supply chain:
- Locally source materials to reduce carbon footprint
- Replace hazardous substances with environmentally friendly alternatives
- Manage waste and pollutants to ensure communities’ access to clean drinking water is not impacted
- Obtain timber from a certified sustainable source
- Always conform with local environmental laws and regulations.
