MST Apprentice wins ITEC Student of the Year
MST are delighted to announce MST Apprentice Matthew Mowbray has won the prestigious ITEC Student of the Year 2018 from The Engineering College, in their annual Apprentice Awards.
The Introduction to Engineering Construction (ITEC) Programme is a partnership between the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) and The Engineering College and offers students the opportunity to pursue a career within the Engineering Construction Industry. It focuses on helping aspiring engineers gain the relevant skills, knowledge and health and safety awareness required for working in the sector. Students also work towards achieving a Level 3 City & Guilds 2850 Diploma in Engineering.

MST are proud to have supported Matthew throughout the course, paying his fees through the Apprenticeship Levy and allowing him a day off every week to attend the course.
The Engineering College, based at Monks Ferry in Birkenhead, awarded Matthew the ITEC Student of the Year 2018 at its recent Annual Apprentice Awards. Matthew was presented his award by Mark Maudsley, the Chief Executive of GTA (Group Training Association) England, a network of 40+ training providers serving the needs of industry and seeking to address the ‘skills gap’ in the country’s workforce.
The College justified Matthew’s award by saying: ‘Matthew has shown excellent dedication… He has a genuine interest in engineering, he’s keen to learn and develop new engineering skills. He has promising skills and an optimistic, mature outlook that has helped him secure a great apprenticeship opportunity at MST.’
We at MST have been very impressed with Matthew’s progress, which certainly marks him out as ‘one for the future’. Congratulations Matthew! If you’d like any further information about MST products or services, or details of our Apprenticeships, please get in touch.
