MST Completes Comprehensive Annual Maintenance and Aesthetic Refit for UK MOD Military Operations / Support Vessel TARKA

Throughout March, Marine Specialised Technology (MST) successfully delivered the annual maintenance programme for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) vessel TARKA, ensuring she returns to service in peak operational and aesthetic condition.

The project involved a “bow-to-stern” overhaul led by MST’s expert Service Engineers. Technically, the team performed a comprehensive service of the main engines, generator, and all deck machinery, including the critical winch and crane systems. Electrical safety and compliance were top priorities, resulting in full lighting replacements, bilge system overhauls, and essential rewiring. By working in close collaboration with OEM partners, MST secured the renewal of all annual certifications, guaranteeing TARKA remains fully compliant with industry standards.

Beyond the mechanical works, the vessel underwent a significant exterior transformation. Following two years in the water, the hull was pressure-washed and sanded back to allow for detailed gelcoat and fibreglass repairs. The process concluded with a professional repaint and polish, restoring the vessel to a like-new finish. Additionally, MST’s laminating specialists revitalised the entire deck with fresh crushed glass grit and flowcoat, significantly enhancing both the vessel’s durability and its visual appeal.
