On patrol – HMS Cutlass officially commissioned into service with the Royal Navy

The MST Group are delighted to announce the recent official commissioning of HMS Cutlass into the Royal Navy fleet.

Designed to take part in British exercises in the area while keeping watch over Gibraltarʼs shores, the craft will be the first of two to go into operation with the Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron.

Built in Merseyside by MST, the new HPB-1900 patrol craft are twice as fast as the boats they have replaced with a top speed of 40 knots and also feature modern optical and infra-red systems, enabling users to identify and track potential threats at range, helping the crew respond to any unforeseen incidents.

A series of trials, exercises and training are currently underway, supported by Flag Officer Sea Training, in order to prepare the vessel and her crew for full operational capability. MST will also provide an additional four years of local In-Service Support.
