MST Demos Revolutionary Inflatable Landing Craft to French STAT Forces

Marine Specialised Technology Group has recently presented its Inflatable Landing Craft 800 (ILC-800) to the technical division of the French Army (STAT).
The aim of the exercise was to give autonomy to the 11th Parachute Brigade for the transportation of its light vehicles across rivers, lakes and other wetlands based on an innovative air-droppable means; thus, the ILC-800 was introduced.
Nearly 9 metres long and less than 4 metres wide, the ILC-800 consists of two semi-rigid side sponsons and a central inflatable loading deck. Simplified to the maximum, the inflation of the landing craft is either done by hand or using a diving bottle allowing a combat engineer group to make it operational within an hour and begin crossings. With more than 3 tons of payload, the ILC-800 can transport around thirty fighters and/or a light vehicle using a Twin Engine Single Tiller (TEST) kit and two outboard motors.

Led by STAT, with the financial support of the Defence Innovation Agency (AID), the operation involved the transportation of a Fardier vehicle and trailer aboard the fully-inflatable ILC-800. The small air-droppable vehicle, 300 of which will be delivered to French forces by 2027, allows the 450kg that the ILC 800 weighs when packaged in the form of a parcel to be transported before and after the crossing phase.
STAT, Technical Section of the French Army, said:
The navigation tests carried out in October 2024 were satisfactory”
The assessment of the airdrop capability should follow in early 2025 with the support of the STAT airborne group.
